‰f›PŠÏ(hanami) aims to create a nocturnal installation consisting in video projections on an audio surrounded blossoming tree during Japanese ‰ÔŒ©(Hanami): a traditional custom of welcoming spring since the Heian Period (794-1185). Crowds of people, families, bands of friends, and groups from companies sit under the fully open cherry blossoms, usually on plastic tarps, and have a picnic celebration.

This work seeks to propose a night time digital installation recomposing the main steps of the cycle of life (birth, childhood, teenage hood, adulthood and death) onto spring inflorescence. The name of the project plays on Japanese language' homophonic qualities: usual caracters for ‰ÔŒ©(Hanami) are "flower" & "look at", weither this project is entitled ‰f›PŠÏ(hanami), respectively "projection", "sensual beauty" & "to look".

Visitors would have an open-air outing while immersing themselves in a high quality digital surround sound system consisting of height speakers, looking at video projections inside the flourishing branches, and eating provided o-bento (traditional Japanese pic-nic).
‰f›PŠÏ(hanami) relies on the combinaison of taste, hearing and sight.

Barco's SLM is considered the best in its class projector. Thanks to the combination of three-chip Digital Light Processing (DLP™) technology and Barco's powerful pixel map processing, it produces sharp, vibrant video images, with remarkable color depth and uniformity. SLM projector series ranges in light output from 5,000 to 10,000 ANSI lumens and is available in XGA and S-XGA resolution.
